One on One Yoga sessions.

Our one on one yoga sessions are always approached from a trauma Informed Perspective. This approach encompasses physical, mental and emotional trauma someone may have experienced. These sessions are centred around the individuals needs and goals. We use the Yogic tools of movement, breath and meditation, along with our knowledge of Psychology, the nervous system, Polyvagal theory, and a somatic approach to working with the body-mind complex.

Trauma informed Yoga is an approach to yoga that addresses that fact that most of us have experienced stress, challenge and trauma at some point in our lives. Our body’s tissues store stress and trauma, and over time these accumulate and can be the cause of negative feelings, exhaustion, chronic stress, the inability to relax and enjoy life, chronic pain in the body and the list could go on.

We are very adaptive and can become quite skilled at living with all these imprints, and yet they can cause all sorts of sneaky interference patterns with how we may truly want to live our lives.

The great news being, that as much as we store our stress and trauma in the body, the body is also ready to let go and come into a more balanced and coherent state.

Thats where Trauma Informed Yoga comes in…

Trauma Informed yoga is designed to bring back a sense of harmony and freedom to the body and mind.

This is done through;

  • Having choice and invitation during the practices.

  • The ability to find versions of a pose that actually work to support your body’s needs.

  • The space to pause and learn how to notice what is happening in your body in a safe and slow way,

  • Practices and techniques to regain the connection to yourself without any force or rush.

  • Learning more about how the body, mind and nervous system works to expand your self knowledge.

  • Practices that are slower and more subtle, yet offer a profound opportunity to transform.

Our knowledge and tools are drawn from:

  • Yoga. Many techniques including - mindful movement, conscious breathing, chanting/toning techniques and meditation techniques. (Trainings in Iyengar, Subtle Yoga, Yin Yoga, Aerial Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Vinyasa Yoga, Vini Yoga and more…)

  • IAYT Yoga Therapy - Nicole is currently in training
