Classes at Raw Wellbeing

We offer a range of different classes at Raw Wellbeing to suit the different needs of those who wish to practice with us,

All our classes and instructors have a foundation in a Trauma Aware approach - this means we understand everybody is different - physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Trauma Informed practices are supportive for all of us as we navigate the unavoidable challenges, stress and trauma of daily life.

This means our classes always offer variations, regressions, progressions, choice and invitation. We are here to guide and support.

Our class offerings;

Subtle Flow

In this class you can expect a slow and subtle practice, ranging from the floor to standing postures. We use repetitive movements, with the option of connection to your breath to create rhythm and flow in the body and nervous system. As well as our whole brain approach to create harmony within the body and mind.

This class is similar to our historic slow flow class and works with flexibility, mobility and stability.

A great class for those who are wanting a more mindful slow stretch practice, yet who don't prefer the option of too much stillness. Some time spent on the wrists in this class

Raw Flow

In this class you can expect something similar to a slow yet strong vinyasa practice. The sequences are based around Sun Salutations, standing poses, opportunities for learning inversions (if you felt so inclined), seated poses and some back bends.

There will be a focus on finding your breath rhythm and moving with your own breath. There will be the option to explore different types of pranayama. There is more time spent on the wrists in this class, yet there are always options to modify.

Align

In this class you can expect more time spent in postures, taking time to understand your natural alignment and how a posture works best for your body. We use more props including yoga chairs in this class. There is less flow in this class, yet still the opportunity for a slow and strong practice.

This class works with strength, flexibility, mobility and stability.

There will be a focus on finding your breath rhythm and exploring a sense of steadiness in postures with your breath. There is less time on the wrists in this class.

Yin Restore

In this class you can expect a fusion of Yin postures with a more restorative intention. Long, grounded holds in postures with options to suit anatomical variation and personal preference. You can expect to use a variety of props for this class to really find comfort and ease in the practice. This class is designed to down regulate the nervous system and allow for deeper rest and peace.

There will be a focus of breath awareness in this class and using the breath to stay present and aware while in the postures. Minimal time spent on the wrists in this class.

Chair Yoga

In this class you can expect to move from a seated position in a chair. We will work with gentle forward bends, back bends and twisting, along with gentle movements that help stimulate integration and balance both hemispheres of the brain.

These classes are ideal for those who may have more restricted movement, struggle to get from the floor to standing, have experienced vertigo / lightheadedness or other conditions that make standard movement classes challenging.

Satsang (Group Chanting + Sharing)

This practice is for those who would like to learn and practice Yogic Chanting, drink tea and have the opportunity to share in a group. Topics will vary and generally be based on yogic philosophy.

There is no pressure to share, this may be a time to chant and connect with like minded people.

Trauma Sensitive Yoga

Reclaiming You - Trauma sensitive Yoga Course

In this course you can expect the instructor to have a clear understanding of trauma and how it can affect the body-mind connection. There is always an option of practicing on a yoga mat or in a chair, and always the option of not participating in anything that does not feel right.

There will be the opportunity to try standing shapes, seated shapes, twisting and back bends.

There will be a focus on breathing and becoming more aware of the body when it feels like something you want to explore.

These classes will be offered in 6 week course blocks, each class is 50 minutes.
